No. These tours are designed specifically for non-sportive cyclists who want to enjoy the scenery at a relaxed pace. Daily stages are balanced, routes follow quiet secondary roads and the itineraries include plenty of time to stop at villages, taste local food and explore historic sites. Difficulty levels range from Level 1 to Level 5, so there is always an option suited to your fitness and experience. Each tour page lists the specific level so you can match the trip to your ability before booking.

Bike rental is available on all our North Italy tours. We offer a range e-bikes, and hybrid bikes to suit different preferences and fitness levels. You can select your rental option when booking.

North Italy offers a wide variety of terrain, from flat cycle paths along Lake Garda and the Po Valley to more demanding mountain stages in the Dolomites and Alps. Each tour page shows the daily elevation profile so you know exactly what to expect.

The best months for cycling in North Italy are April through October. Spring (April to June) offers mild temperatures, lush landscapes, and fewer crowds. Summer (July and August) is warm and ideal for higher alpine routes, though popular lake areas can be busy. September and early October are excellent for vineyard scenery, harvest season, and cooler riding conditions. We recommend avoiding the winter months for alpine routes, when mountain passes may be closed or weather conditions unreliable and the daylight is shorter.

Our North Italy cycling tours span several distinct regions, including:

  • Piedmont: Barolo and Barbaresco wine hills, Ivrea, Biella, and the Alps foothills

  • Lombardy: Sentiero Valtellina, Lake Como, and the Adda river valley

  • Trentino-Alto Adige: The Dolomites, Passo Resia to Lake Garda, and the Pusteria valley

  • Veneto: The Prosecco Route, Treviso, Bassano del Grappa, and Cortina d'Ampezzo

  • Emilia-Romagna: The Romagna Experience from Faenza to Ravenna

  • Via Francigena: Pilgrimage routes from Aosta through Piedmont and beyond

All of our tours ccan be easily extended with pre- or post-stays in popular cities such as Venice, Turin and Milan.

Each region offers a different character, from alpine drama to wine-country rolling hills.

Tour durations range from 5 days (including 3 cycling days) for short breaks like the Barolo Wine Hills or Ivrea to Biella, up to 24 days for the full Italian Via Francigena from Aosta to Rome. Most tours fall in the 6 to 9 day range, with 4 to 7 cycling days. A typical cycling day covers between 35 and 65 km, depending on the route and difficulty level.

Prices start from around €504 for a 5-day short break and go up to €4,054 for the 24-day Via Francigena. Most 7-day tours are priced between €877 and €1,058 per person. Prices include accommodation, luggage transfers, maps, and GPS tracks and 7 days a week assistance. Bike rental, flights, and personal expenses are generally not included unless stated on the tour page.
