Cycle along the River Sile through the flat Veneto region, towards the cypress-covered foothills of the Montegrappa. Stop in the medieval town of Bassano del Grappa to visit the “grappa” museum, the famous liqueur produced here and then the charming town of Asolo the “city of a hundred horizons”. Continue riding through the Prosecco region with its vineyard covered hills till Follina, the next landmark, lying at the foothills of the Dolomite Mountains. Following the Prosecco Route from winery to winery you reach Pieve di Soligo first and then the back onto the plain dotted with magnificent Venetian Villas and ancient water mills.

The magnificent city walls, still intact, will be the perfect backdrop for a wonderful beginning of your holiday. A walled city by its very definition, it preserves almost the entire city walls and the six towers that rise at the four corners and in the middle points of the east and south. Castelfranco Veneto inextricably links its eight hundred years of history to its strategic position in central Veneto, an obligatory stopover between Venice, Germany and Flanders, between western Europe and the plains of the East.
After breakfast you start your holiday biking along the “sentiero degli ezzelini” path following a canal all the way to the charming hilltop town of Asolo; one of the Italy’s most beautiful hamlets and nicknamed “City of a hundred horizons”.
From Asolo you reach your destination of this first day, Bassano del Grappa, following quite secondary roads with the view of the mountains and the vineyards. Bassano is the city of “grappa” strong liquor made by distilling the skins, pulp, seeds, and stems left over from winemaking after pressing the grapes: a magnificent destination at the foot of the Venetian Alps that combines historical memory, art and food and wine. Its history has been shaped by the river Brenta, which flows through it near the historic centre: here the two banks are joined by a magnificent wooden bridge that has become the symbol of the city.
Challenge: 40 km, 330 m ascent, 255 m descent
Today you cycle on countryside roads from Bassano del Grappa, towards the most famous wine route in Italy, the Prosecco route. Along the way you will have a change to stop and visit the magnificent “Tempio Canoviano” in Possagno. You then follow a panoramic road overlooking the valley on the right hand side and the mountains on the left hand side until you reach a quite bike path along a canal of the Piave river. A final ascent through the vineyards leads you to your destination, Valdobbiadene.
Challenge: 46 km, 725 m ascent, 605 m descent
After breakfast the ride starts with a nice ascent up the hill towards Santo Stefano village then you continue riding on one of the most beautiful roads in the whole region. The breathtaking panorama of the snow-covered Alps along the way will be an image you will not forget. Today’s terrain is a lot hillier; although the ascents are never very long, at times they can steep. The panoramas you will encounter make all your efforts worthwhile.
Challenge: 30 km, 425 m ascent, 550 m descent
An exciting and challenging ride awaits you today. After a climb you will pass through the tiny village of Refrontolo situated along the “Prosecco Route”.
