Starting in the hilltop city of Ragusa, you'll wind through golden countryside, charming stone villages, and UNESCO-listed towns like Modica, Scicli, and Noto—each a masterpiece of Baroque architecture. The route gently descends toward the sparkling Ionian coast, where sun-soaked seaside roads lead you to the historic splendor of Siracusa. With coastal breezes, rich Sicilian flavors, and centuries of history at every turn, this ride blends culture, nature, and Mediterranean magic into one perfect journey.


Day to Day

Day 1   Arrive in Ragusa
 

Welcome to Sicily! Arrive in the stunning hilltop town of Ragusa, a jewel of Sicilian Baroque and the perfect starting point for your cycling journey. After checking into your hotel, take time to explore the winding lanes of Ragusa Ibla, admire its elegant palazzi and domed churches, and enjoy your first taste of Sicilian cuisine at a local trattoria.

  
Day 2   Ride from Ragusa to Scici via Modica
 

Your cycling adventure begins with a scenic ride through rolling hills and dry-stone walls, descending from Ragusa toward the Baroque beauty of Modica. Here, take a sweet break to sample the town’s legendary Aztec-style chocolate, made with ancient techniques and bold flavors. After the tasting, continue the ride through a patchwork of olive groves and quiet backroads, arriving in the charming town of Scicli, nestled in a dramatic limestone valley. Enjoy a relaxed evening wandering its graceful streets and savoring a well-earned Sicilian dinner.

Day 3   Scicli loop ride toward the sea
 

Today’s ride takes you from the Baroque beauty of Scicli down quiet country roads toward the Mediterranean coast. Feel the breeze as you cycle past carob trees and sunlit fields to the coast.  For those craving more coastal views, an optional extension leads to the lively beach town of Marina di Ragusa before looping back inland. The return to Scicli winds gently uphill, offering peaceful views and a chance to unwind before another evening soaking in the town’s relaxed atmosphere.


Challenge: 25 km, 360m ascent, 360m descent

  
Day 4   Ride from Scicli to Marzamemi
 

Leaving Scicli behind, today’s ride heads south toward the glittering coastline, following scenic backroads through quiet countryside and along salt-scented shores. Pass through famous pachino tomatoes fields, before arriving in the colorful fishing village of Marzamemi. With its sun-drenched piazza, seaside cafés, and relaxed vibes, this charming spot is the perfect place to unwind after a rewarding day in the saddle.


Challenge: 48 km, 350m ascent, 460m descent

  
Day 5   Loop ride via Capo Passero
 

Today’s loop takes you to the southernmost tip of Sicily at Capo Passero, where the Ionian and Mediterranean seas meet. Ride through sunbaked fields and vineyards to the laid-back town of Portopalo, then continue along the coast to reach the dramatic cliffs and views of the cape. On the return, pass through Pachino, famous for its sweet cherry tomatoes, before rolling back to Marzamemi for a relaxing afternoon by the sea.


Challenge: 30 km, 200m ascent, 200m descent

  
Day 6   Ride from Marzamemi to Noto
 

Leave the coast and head inland toward the elegant Baroque city of Noto for your last cycling day. The ride rolls gently through olive groves, citrus orchards, and quiet country lanes. For those looking to start the day with a dose of nature, an optional detour takes you through the Vendicari Nature Reserve, with its wild beaches, salt flats, and birdlife. Arrive in Noto with time to explore its grand cathedral, golden-hued buildings, and lively cafés—an ideal place to toast the final leg of your Sicilian cycling journey.


Challenge: 35 km, 140m ascent, 115m descent

  
Day 7   Travel to Siracusa by train
 

After a leisurely breakfast in Noto, it's time to bid farewell to the open road and board the train to Siracusa, a historic city that has captivated travelers for centuries. The journey takes you through scenic countryside and coastal views, arriving in Siracusa with plenty of time to explore its ancient ruins, including the impressive Greek Theatre and the charming Ortigia Island. Spend the afternoon strolling its narrow streets, soaking in the rich history, and savoring your final Sicilian moments before the trip comes to an end.
